Welcome!

Welcome, friend!

Welcome to the web site of Resurrection Lutheran Church!

We hope that you find useful and interesting information on our site. We also hope that you will choose to join us in person in the very near future! We're just 10 minutes west of Interstate 95 on Route 3 near the historic Chancellorsville battlefield. Drive west out of the noise of Fredericksburg's Central Park...when you see the farm silos of the garden center and nursery, look left and you'll see our church building. Please feel free to just drive by or pull into our parking lot around back to check us out.

Why visit our church? You may or may not be involved with a church at present. But the fact of the matter is: life is often difficult. When it becomes difficult, or more so, it is reassuring to know you have a group of friends who will stand by you. In the Bible, there is not one example of a solitary Christian. Being a Christian -- a follower of Jesus Christ -- means you are a part of the family of God. This happens through baptism. As a part of the family of God, it is only natural that you would choose to spend some time with your sisters and brothers in Christ (even if they aren't perfect -- and we know we aren't!).

Our trust in God is strengthened through hearing God's promises. Our faith is renewed through gathering with fellow believers who are willing to admit their failings and weaknesses, boldly confess their faith, and gather around the Lord's table in Holy Communion.

What if you're not a Lutheran? That's fine! Many of our visitors and guests are not Lutherans, and we think that's wonderful! Our church is made up of people from many different backgrounds of faith -- a diversity that enriches our lives together. As you explore our web site, see what Resurrection Lutheran Church has to offer, then visit us in person, you'll start to learn what it means to be a Lutheran. And, you'll learn that Lutheran doctrine makes sense, and that it can help provide a meaningful framework for your life. At that point, you'll probably consider joining our family of believers.

Why become a member? You need a place where you can be honest with yourself and others, and ask questions concerning God, the world, and relationships. You need to feel you don't have to be perfect to belong. God's family is called to make a difference in the world. The cumulative efforts of sisters and brothers in Christ have a greater impact than singular efforts. Our church's vision statement sums it up:

"Resurrection Lutheran Church is a Christ-centered family of believers, so deeply and confidently rooted in the Gospel of God's grace, that we are free to give our lives joyfully in witness and service to those whom God has brought into our lives; within our congregation, our community, and our world."

Through faith in God, we join together and reach out to make a difference. And, there is no greater feeling in the world than to feel that you are a member of God's family!

How do you get started? Visit us in person -- get to know us -- get to know yourself -- come to realize that membership in God's family is an important step towards fulfillment of God's promise to us all. Attend church regularly, pray, and seek to discern how God wants you to be involved. Call the church office at (540) 786-7778 or fill out a white card in the pew and place it in the offering plate. If you have not been baptized, you should talk with one of our Pastors and make arrangements for instruction and the appropriate time to be baptized. If you have been baptized, you will be joining through a simple affirmation of your faith. Fill out the forms necessary for our congregation. The church office will give you the forms. Attend the Resurrection ministry orientations and meal. You will then be recognized at a worship service as we celebrate your presence among us. For now, please explore our web site . . . and come visit us next Sunday...or Wednesday!
