We the People of Resurrection Lutheran Church. Common, ordinary folk -- young
and old -- who trust in God. We are simple sinners, saved by our faith in

Our Pastors
Resurrection's Pastors are the Reverend James
C. Kniseley and the Reverend Carol Haynes Kniseley. Pastors Jim and Carol began
their ministry at Resurrection in December, 2000. Previously they served as
Co-Pastors in La Canada, California.
Pastor Jim was ordained in 1975 and has served congregations in Kansas and California.
A graduate of UCLA, he received his B.A. in History. His Doctor of Ministry
degree was earned at The Southern California School of Theology. Pastor Jim
is a third generation Lutheran Pastor. His grandfather, father, and brother
served congregations in Pennsylvania and California.
Pastor Jim's interests include: boating, fishing, mystery novels, history and
travel. He has led tours to the Holy Land, the British Isles, Scandinavia, and
the Oberammergau Passion Play.
Pastor Carol grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. She is a graduate of the University
of Tennessee in Knoxville. She has a master's degree in medical illustration
and was the medical illustrator for the University of Tennessee School of Veterinary
Medicine for eight years. In 1993, she pursued her call to ministry and enrolled
in seminary. She graduated from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. She
was ordained in 1997.
Pastor Carol has many interests, including: drawing, creative writing, working
with young children, cows, UT Football, Bailey (dog) and the late Grayson (cat).
Our Family Life Minister
Susan Cheatham has been part of our community
since the first year of this congregation's existence. She was born in Long
Island, New York, and spent most of her school years in Frederick, Maryland.
Susan earned her B.A. in Special Education from Lynchburg College and a
M.Ed. from University of Virginia. For six years she taught students with special
needs in Stafford County, Virginia.

Our Music Minister
Amy Burcher serves as our Minister of Music. Amy has been playing and teaching piano for years, and previously served this congregation as Associate Minister of Music. She assumed her current post in 2006. See

Our Youth Minister
Greg Brock has been a member of the Resurrection family since 1996. He and his
family relocated to Fredericksburg from Cape May County, New Jersey. They were
long time members of a Lutheran Church where he and his wife met during there
youth group years.
Greg has been working with Middle and High School youth for over 17 years. He began serving as a volunteer Youth Servant here at RLC in 2000 and was called as our full time Minister of Youth in 2003.
He is certified as a Youth Minister through a program of study at Gettysburg Seminary. Besides playing and praying with
the youth, he enjoys skiing, golf, roses, and his three girls at home.
Our Secretary
Victoria Comer Roberts serves our church as secretary since the 1990s. Originally from Woodbridge,
Virginia, she and her family have lived in northern Caroline County for the past 17 years.
Vicki is a Methodist, but we don't hold it against her! In her spare time, she
enjoys raising Eclectus parrots and photography.
