The One Body Of Christ

The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and
though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ
1 Corinthians 12:12

We are members of Resurrection Lutheran Church, but we are also members of the whole Body of Christ. So it is important that as we plan for our growth, we plan for increasing our ability to support the national and worldwide ministries that our contributions to the Virginia Synod and the ELCA help make possible.

Throughout the Awakening we will be spotlighting a few of these ministries to help us learn how God is using the Church throughout the world to bring the Good News.

World Hunger Relief

The World Hunger Program is the way the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) addresses chronic hunger and poverty around the world and here in the United States.

The World Hunger Appeal, the fund-raising part of the World Hunger Program, collects specially designated offerings and donations from ELCA members, congregations and friends to fund the work of the ELCA and its partners (including Lutheran World Relief and the Lutheran World Federation) in poverty relief and development.

ELCA National Youth Gathering "Ubuntu"

Each year, the ELCA sponsors a Gathering of the nation's youth to experience the love of God and grow in fellowship with each other. This year's Youth Gathering is called "Ubuntu".
