Confirmation and Middle School
Youth Group (6th, 7th, and 8th graders)
The
goals of the Middle School Youth Group is to help teens transitioning to adulthood discover
who they are as a child of God; to develop their identities as
young Christians and let that fact influence their lifestyles;
to provide them with the necessary tools to navigate the "white
water of adolescence" into young adulthood.
The
purpose of this group is to grow in relationship to Jesus,
others, and self.
The Confirmation Program
The
Confirmation Program is a three-year process. During this period,
the group studies The Holy Bible, the Ten Commandments, the Lord's
Prayer, and the Apostle's Creed. Studies are held each SUnday morning from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM. Each youth's Affirmation of Baptism
is celebrated on Pentecost Sunday (usually in May or June) at the end
of their 8th grade term.

Other Activities
While
the middle-school youth group works together with the Confirmation Program, it also
provides an opportunity for children to discuss how God relates
to the everyday issues that young people encounter, and how the
things they learn in Confirmation can be applied to these situations.
Group outings offer both a time for sharing and growing, as well
as opportunities to develop into a servant of Christ.
The
group meets at least twice a month and participates in a variety of service projects.
