Confirmation and Middle School
Youth Group (6th, 7th, and 8th graders)
The
goals of the Middle School Youth Group is to help children discover
who they are as a child of God; to develop their identities as
young Christians and let that fact influence their lifestyles;
to provide them with the necessary tools to navigate the "white
water of adolescence" into young adulthood.
The
purpose of this group is to grow in relationship to Jesus,
others, and self.
The Confirmation Program
The
Confirmation Program is a three-year process. During this period,
the group studies The Holy Bible, the Ten Commandments, the Lord's
Prayer, and the Apostle's Creed. Studies are performed during
a large-group informational time and in small-group discussion
periods. These studies are separate from the Christian Education
program, but closely connected. Each youth's Affirmation of Baptism
is celebrated on Pentecost Sunday (usually in June) at the end
of their 8th grade term.

Other Activities
While
this group works together with the Confirmation Program, it also
provides an opportunity for children to discuss how God relates
to the everyday issues that young people encounter, and how the
things they learn in Confirmation can be applied to these situations.
Group outings offer both a time for sharing and growing, as well
as opportunities to develop into a servant of Christ.
The
group meets every Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, with Confirmation
Program studies on the first and third Sunday of each month, and
youth meetings on the other Sundays.
