Youth Ministry

General Information
RLC is seeking a
part-time Youth Ministry Director (YMD) for multi-year commitment to be responsible for assisting the church's youth from grades 6
-12 in social, service and learning activities in a Lutheran Christian
environment. The YMD models Christian
behavior and shows the church's young people practical applications for
Christianity in daily life.
Minimum Required
Qualifications. Candidates must
have:
§ a strong
personal Christian faith, be actively involved in the Church, and a knowledge
of the Lutheran faith;
§ experience
working with youth, and a passion to support, guide, teach, and mentor them;
§ effective
interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with and relate to
youth
§ strong organization
and teaming skills to form partnerships with the staff, church leadership and parents; and
§ a bachelor’s degree
(or college senior scheduled to graduate).
Desired Qualifications.
While
not required to meet the minimum qualifications, the following qualifications
are desired:
§ formal training in working
with youth;
§ a bachelor’s degree
in a directly related field of study such as secondary education, Christian
education, music/theatre, etc.
Compensation. The pay will be between $12.50
and $14.50 per hour for an average of about 15 hours per week with some flexibility
in scheduling those hours. Attendance /
participation is expected at Sunday worship services and selected week end activities,
along with periodic evening meetings, events, or activities.
