Resurrection Lutheran School offers a preschool program for three and four year-olds. The three year-olds meet Tuesday and Thursday from 9AM to 12PM. The four year-olds meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9AM to 12PM.
The mission of Resurrection Lutheran School is to serve the congregation and community through a Christ-centered program, nurturing the total child spiritually, academically, emotionally and physically in a safe learning environment. We strive to instill a life-long love of learning while helping to prepare your child for kindergarten.
Our small class sizes allow each child the opportunity necessary to reach his/her potential in learning. The classes at RLS are under the direction of highly qualified and experienced teachers.
Our school is held in a brand new classroom with a large, bright space that provides children countless opportunities to learn and play. The children are encouraged to think creatively, to make decisions and choices, to share and work together, and to express themselves through a variety of media which are essential components of our program and the development of the children.
THE CURRICULUM
Each month, our curriculum is based on a special theme such as the five senses, zoo animals, and fun on the farm. Our activities include a focus on religion, social skills, language and reading skills, physical movement, math, expressive arts, and science. See the sidebar to download a complete syllabus.
In addition, children participate in weekly music classes, biweekly chapel time, fall and spring field trips, and service projects with local organizations. We also have several special holiday celebrations such as a family Thanksgiving Feast, a birthday party for Jesus, and Family Game Day.
A new playground encourages large motor skill development and offer a wonderful place for the children to explore and learn to love nature. Our facility also has a children’s library and a computer lab that will be used to supplement their learning experience.
THE SCHOOL DAY
Our children start their morning with free play and have the opportunity to play table games, puzzles, blocks and other manipulatives. The class then moves to circle time where we discuss the calendar, weather, the letter of the week, sing songs and tell/read stories. The children then take part in group time where the teachers will use a variety of mediums to create crafts, work on letter recognition, listening comprehension, among many other learning activities. Then center time provides the children with the opportunity for dramatic play in our kitchen, tool bench, or dress up centers; to manipulate objects in our discovery table; and to listen to stories in our listening center, along with other developmental activities. Snack time and outside play provides the children with important learning opportunities as well. To continue the day, the students gather together again for group time where music class, chapel time, show and tell or special visitors will be offered.
